Volunteer opportunities at EFLS:

There currently are 4 basic categories for which you can volunteer in at EFLS. Each are described further below:

1. Board of Directors Member: If you think your background may be helpful and conducive with EFLS' mandate or if you possess relevant experience in personal financial management, accounting or related field, this may be an ideal opportunity for you to share your expertise and give back to the community.

The EFLS Board of Directors meets the 4th Wednesday of each calendar month and its role is to develop policy and strategy for the organization as well as evaluating its programming and financial performance.

If you have any questions regarding board positions please contact the board chair Greg Bainbridge  gregbainbridge@gmail.com

2. Committee Member: Assisting in supporting the Board of Directors.  Committees vary depending on the needs of the organization. Please contact EFLS for further detaills.

Again, if you feel you have the appropriate background to volunteer for a committee, but have any questions, please contact the Executive Director Nigel Kidd nigelkidd@efls.ca.

3. Course Facilitator: Because delivering courses is the most important thing that EFLS does, it always welcomes opportunities to expand its current pool of facilitators. If you have teaching / facilitation experience or training, this may be an ideal venue for you to expand your horizons and to contract your skills to EFLS.

Contrary to popular belief, being a good personal money manager is not a pre-requisite as it's all about learning in a group setting. Quite often the most effective facilitators are those who have struggled to manage their own personal finances at some time in their life and they can empathize and share their personal experiences, triumphs and failures with the group.

4. Consultant: If you feel that your professional background and area of expertise could be of assistance to EFLS in terms of its daily operations and / or fulfilling its mandate, please feel free to contact the EFLS office to discuss this further.

If any of the above volunteer positions interest you, then the next steps are:

1) Contact EFLS Executive Director; Nigel Kidd, at 780 944 1558 or via e-mail at nigelkidd@efls.ca & discuss your skills and interests with him.

2) If the outcome of your discussion with Nigel results in a potential fit with EFLS, then complete and forward an EFLS Volunteer application package (from our Resources page) to the EFLS office.

3) Based on the completed application you submit, EFLS will then determine if scheduling a personal interview with you would be a suitable next step.

4) If you are successful in securing a volunteer position with EFLS, you will then be provided with orientation, proper training, ongoing support and meet those you will be working with.

*Note: If there is any possibility of conflict of interest with your existing employment or volunteer positions, these must be disclosed on your volunteer application.
